About the author – Magdalena Marsden
I started my bread baking journey at the age of 12 when I baked my first ever enriched and yeasted dough (it was a traditional Czech filled cake). I also worked in a local bakery couple of summers when I was studying at a college. I started to bake bread more regularly when I moved to England in 1998 and couldn’t really find the type of bread I was used to. I baked for all my family and friends and later to sell at local farmer’s markets.
After working in corporate management for best part of 12 years, I set up a small food business called Cocoa & Heart in 2011. As part of Cocoa & Heart I baked bread to sell at local farmer’s markets and ran bread baking courses.
Using my senior management experience, I’ve also provided a small business consultancy service from offering practical advice on how to set up your own micro bakery, to understanding financial spread sheets, as well as how to grow your business by making best use of the latest social media, innovative marketing and optimizing your website with search engine optimisation.
Over the years, I’ve tried and tested many bread recipes and I’ve chosen the best ones for my recipe book. I’ve added step by step bread baking techniques with professional photos, because once you master the basics you should be able to pick any recipe and successfully make it. I hope you enjoy baking with my bread baking book and do let me know how you get on.
Customer’s Feedback
‘I always thought I was a bad cook!
I tried several bread recipes, but I was never happy with the way they came out.
They were too stodgy and always lost their shape when I baked them.
I thought the fault was purely mine, but now reading your bread book I can see where I was going wrong. This is definitelly the best bread making book, I’ve read and I refer to it every time I bake my bread.
Thank you for finally demystifying bread baking for me!
Peter, Leicester, UK
‘I have just downloaded your bread baking book and I must admit I never read anything so detailed!
Thank you for explaining the ‘WHY’ – that was definitely what didn’t find in my other bread making books!
Daniel, Cardiff, Wales
‘I’ve recently attended your sourdough bread baking day and I afterwards downloaded your book to remind me the different techniques. It’s so good to see the step by step pictures, especially all the dough shaping, as I always get confused with it’
Patricia, Folkstone, Kent
This is lovely little bread recipe book – I particularly like the bread making techniques part, as I’ve always struggled with it in the past.
