Christmas is my favourite time of the year when it comes to food. It’s not so much the main affair of the main festive dinner, for me it’s more about the little treats and sweets that really make Christmas. It’s the only time of the year, when your house can overflown sugar and nobody minds!
So, in this blog post I wanted to share with you my favourite sweet treats for the festive season and I hope you’ll find some inspiration for your Christmas baking. I’ll be adding more recipes as we go through the seasons, so pop back in or save this page somewhere save to come back to.
Mixed Spice Mix
I use this spice mix for a lot of Christmas recipe and whilst you can buy it in the supermarket ready made I prefer to make my own homemade version.
Gingerbread Mix Spice
Another mix spice I couldn’t be without at Christmas time. I use it for my gingerbreads, but also for making apple crumbles, hot chocolates and coffee.
Lebkuchen Biscuits – Traditional Gingerbread Biscuits
Cinnamon Star
I promise that this recipe is not a difficult to make as it looks! It does take a fair amount of time to prepare, but the results are impressive. You can always swap the cinnamon sugar filling for chocolate, peanut butter or Nutella filling.
Traditional vanilla ice cream
Vanilla ice cream goes well with any pudding and you might think that it’s too much faff to make it at home, when you can buy in inexpensively in the shop. But, this vanilla ice cream is one the best ones I’ve tasted – it’s creamy, rich and the flavour is so well balanced.
