Creamy green smoothie made with spinach leaves, green apples, pepper, spices and cream cheese. This is an easy recipe and a nutritious alternative to a breakfast.
Why make this smoothie?
- Great way to use up any leftover green salad vegetables
- Low in sugar (as it contains more vegetables than fruit)
- Perfect replacement for a breakfast or an afternoon snack

Ingredients
The best thing about this recipe is that you can add pretty much any kind of green vegetable to make it work. You can also add fruit, but I would recommend that you start with the vegetable options and then add fruit if needed.
This is because I wanted to make this green smoothie with vegetables mainly as they have plenty of nutrition and are not as sweet as fruit.
Spinach or other leafy vegetable (e.g. lettuce)
Green apple
Green pepper
Carrot
Milk – rice or other type of milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Cream cheese – dairy free or plant based if preferred. Cream cheese ads protein, the right kind of fat and calcium and makes this smoothie deliciously creamy.
1 tablespoon chia seeds or other seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower)
Lemon juice or lime juice – citrus juice adds zing to the smoothie and without it the smoothie might taste a little bland.
Ginger – ground or fresh ginger is great to add to your smoothie for the flavour (and it helps with digestion)
Salt
Honey – or agave syrup – completely optional and only if you feel that you need to have that extra sugar. If you are not sure, add it in as the last ingredient.

Instructions
- Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
- Taste and adjust the flavour to your liking.

- 1/2 green pepper
- 1 small carrot
- 1 cup rice milk or other type of milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/3 cup cream cheese dairy free or plant based if preferred
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds or other seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice or lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger or use a 1 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger
- tiny pinch fine salt
- 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
- Taste and adjust the flavour to your liking.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
